Surprise!

This was the cake for Rusty's surprise party. We had a 30th B-Day/30th Olympics Games celebration. As you can see, the theme was the host nation, Great Britain. It turned out better than I expected, but without Liz to talk me down during my usual decorating "freak-out" I was a little hypertensive.

Way overdue...sorry Liz

Liz has been asking me to post these for so long. Unfortunately I am blog-illiterate so it has taken me a while to work up the nerve to attempt such a feat : )

Soccer Cake
This is the cake that I made with my nephew for his 5th B-Day. He put all the decorations on...so I have to give him credit for the "cool part". He's pretty proud, as you can tell.

Duckling Cupcakes
Here are the ducking cupcakes that I made for my niece's 1st birthday a couple months ago. She had such a good time destroying her little cake and the ducks were delicious! Thanks to Liz for the instructions for these cute little guys.

Liz, I hope that you are proud of me!

Happy Halloween!

In honor of Halloween we made some special cake pops. In my completely unbiased opinion I think they are super cute/totally frightening. It's a difficult balance to achieve, but I think we somehow managed it :-)

We made SKULLS...

and GHOSTS...

and even MUMMIES! (I think the mummies were my personal favorite! I love the green eyes.)

The best part was that the inside was orange! It doesn't get much more Halloween-y than that!

All in all, I think it made for a pretty SPOOK-tacular sight! Thanks to Britany and Anel for all of the help.

It's 'Arry 'Otta!

That's right, it's Harry Potter! Last night we were inspired to make butterbeer flavored cupcakes and golden snitch cake pops. They taste AMAZING and I think they look pretty impressive, too. I just love Harry Potter and it totally took me back to the good times we had at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Orlando. Gotta love it!

We used this recipe.

I was super happy with the way they turned out. Thanks to Britany and Sara for all the help :-) I'm totally a HP fan for life!

G'Day from Down Under!

I haven't baked since I moved into my new apartment and I decided that yesterday was the day to make it happen. I decided that I wanted to make koala cake pops and I think they are pretty much adorable! One of my co-residents came over and helped me make them and I think they turned out great. My favorite part is the black jelly bean nose. It's so perfect! And as always, the cake pops were of course delicious.

Sushi Anyone?

Okay, so I know it's been a while but we've been busy. Since our last post both Sara and I graduated from dental school and officially became doctors...pretty exciting! Anyway, we haven't had much time for baking.

However, we did make a pretty wicked awesome sushi cake! Sara's brother-in-law Matt has been living in Japan for the last 3 years and just came home a few days ago. In honor of his return, we put together this sushi cake. To be fair, Sara did most of the work but I did help a little. I think it looks pretty impressive and the best part is that it tasted great!

Pomp and Circumstance

It's hard to believe, but Sara and I are getting mighty close to graduating from dental school (hopefully...I still have nightmares that something will go wrong and they won't let me walk across the stage). Anyway, in honor of the approaching occasion and in preparation for the Group 1 end-of-year party, we made these cake pops. Wicked awesome cake pops, if I do say so myself. We made graduation caps and teeth, which seems only fitting. Sara painstakingly put anatomy into each of the teeth that we made...it didn't come out 100% after they were dipped, but I still think they look pretty awesome. And you can totally tell that they're teeth!
